Ben J. Courson, President
Mr. Courson has over 25 years of fixed income
management experience. He has experience as an
institutional fixed income broker, having worked for
Lehman Brothers, Salomon Brothers, and Smith Barney.
Michael C. Kloack, Vice President
Mike is responsible for day-to-day relationship
management with the firm’s clients, including the structuring
and coordinating of all competitive investment bidding.
Richard W. "Dick" Barch, Chairman
Dick is responsible for the overall growth of the
firm and serves as the primary liaison with
Stauder, Barch & Associates, our sister firm.
Mr. Barch has been involved in every type of
municipal security issued in the State of Michigan.
Through his extensive nationwide contacts, he has developed a
thorough knowledge of the entire municipal arena and has vast
experience in analyzing and recommending strategies in
determining the effects of credit and marketing acceptance of the
credit rating agencies, insurance industry and Wall Street. He has
had responsibility for Michigan tax exempt issues comprising over
4,000 transactions, in excess of $46 billion.
As a Senior Vice President for two of Michigan’s largest banks, Ben
was directly responsible for more than $4 billion dollars in assets
invested by municipal and public funds investors. He has served as an
advisor to two state treasurers, advising them on the evaluation and re-
designing of related investment policies and state-offered investment
funds. Ben has served as a consultant to the IRS on the investment of
bond proceeds and has provided testimony to the IRS General
Counsel's office regarding the current changes to arbitrage regulations.
Recognized in the financial industry for his expertise, Ben has spoken at
multiple national conferences, including the annual Windy City Summit
conference, the Midwest’s premier Treasury Management conference.
On a local level, his article on effective bond proceeds management
was published in the Michigan School Business Officials newsletter.
Mike has over 17 years of customer service and management experience,
including 10 years in banking and 7 years in serving Michigan public
entities. He has held NASD Series 7 and 63 designations, and has
overseen the investment of more than $2 billion in Michigan public assets,
having worked with a large number of municipalities and school districts.
Mike also assisted in the programming of the software that has become an
industry standard for servicing this specialized field.
